When we think about living an abundant life, we often think of money and possessions. Though material possessions are nice, we all know people who are extremely wealthy but still not happy. In order to have a truly abundant life, we must be happy within ourselves.

This is a personal decision that we have to make. It’s not always possible to have strong, positive relationships with others. Accept this as part of life. In spite of wealth and success in a career, you’ll find that it’s often difficult to have happy relationships with every person in your family and circle of friends.

Having a beautiful home and nice car can be wonderful, but may be easier to achieve than having good relationships with people. That’s because people cannot be controlled. In spite of trying to have happy relationships, what if the people in your life are simply not interested? They may be angry or jealous. This leaves you to find a way to feel content within yourself without everything in your life being perfect.

Meditation can help. Set aside a few minutes each day to meditate. Take some deep breaths. Close your eyes. Picture your life with joy at every level. Remember that though we cannot control how other people behave toward us, we can choose joy each day. Let all your stress go. Continue to be polite and kind to those around you, even if they don’t return these actions.

You can enjoy a life of abundance without lots of material possessions and even without completely happy relationships with each individual.
